The Vestry is the legal governing body of the parish pertaining to all matters temporal of the Church and the acquisition of a Priest-in-Charge or Rector. There are nine Vestry members, usually elected at the annual parish meeting, one third of whom rotate off each year. The presiding officer of the Vestry is the Rector. There are two wardens: The Senior Warden leads the parish between rectors and is an integral support person for the Vestry and Rector. The Junior Warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings. A treasurer and a secretary round out the group. The basic responsibilities of the Vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources, legal matters and finances.
